Kitchin Society
Named in memory of A E Kitchin, Shrewsbury School

“Our aim is to provide a forum for discussion of school and junior rowing and to provide stimulus, support and a source of ideas for all directors of rowing at school boat clubs.”
Our Society is made up of over 60 independent and state school boat clubs.
Membership fees are charged to independent school boat clubs only.
Heads of Rowing are invited to two meetings each year, held in September and January.
Meetings conclude with dinner and opportunities to network, along with discussion of relevant issues, often including a guest speaker.
The Society supports organisations who widen access to our sport, as well as athletes aspiring to race internationally.
The Society promotes communication and discussion between members for the benefit of our sport and our young rowers.
Former Heads of Rowing may hold ‘senior’ membership and provide their expertise at meetings.
The Society supports the Independent Schools’ HMC, in better understanding our sport.
Mutual cooperation and support between members is encouraged and to particularly enhance state school rowing opportunities.
Representatives of the following organisations will often attend our meetings:
Junior Rowing Committee, British Rowing, GB Rowing Team, Henley Women’s Regatta, Henley Royal Regatta, Nationals Schools’ Regatta, Schools Head of the River, The Scullery
